Conducting While Sight Reading Kodaly 333 Elementary Exercises


Introductory Information :

-These exercises are better suited for students who are very familiar with their instrument.

Materials:

 Book: 333 Elementary Exercises by Zoltan Kodaly

    Section 1: Exercises 3 and 4.

In This Video We:

1. Test the student's knowledge of DO and RE. (See Prepare)
2. Introduce the Conducting Pattern for 2/4 and 3/4 (Also See Make Conscious)
3. Practice Sight Singing while conducting. ( Also See Reinforce)
4. Explore ways in which to aid a student in starting this process. These are:
        a. Conduct and have your student hold on to a pen (or baton).
        b. Identify the Ictus as a spatial entity and have your student focus on it.
